Thank you for your interest in CV Softball's Spring 2023 Recreation Softball Season
During the Spring season, CV Softball offers divisions that participate in the West Shore Minors Fast Pitch League (8U, 10U, 12U and 14U), as well as a Little League T-Ball (6U) Program organized by CV Softball. The division your daughter will play is dictated by your daughter’s age as of December 31, 2022. Jerseys, as well as team equipment (bats, helmets, catchers gear, etc.) will be provided by CV Softball. Parents/Players must provide their own softball glove. Softball pants are also recommended. More information about specific age divisions is provided below.
We also encourage you to reach out to us if you are interested in how you can participate with your daughter by helping CV Softball as a volunteer and/or coach.
Little League T-Ball (6U)
Girls ages 6 and under as of December 31, 2022 will play in an instructional division among other CV Softball 6U teams. Practices will begin on or around April 1st and games will be played beginning in mid-April. Activities (practices and/or games) will be scheduled 2x's per week and will alternate days each week (week 1 will be on Tuesday and Friday, week 2 will be Monday and Thursday). The season will be completed by the last week of the school year. During games, girls will hit off a tee for the first half of the season and each player will bat in every inning. Coach pitch will be introduced in the second half of the season, as well as the concept of "3 outs" to end an inning. Girls will have the opportunity to play all position during games throughout the season. Practices will focus heavily on fundamentals of the game such as hitting, fielding, and base running, as well as proper throwing and catching mechanics. There may also be Opening Day and Closing Day activities (weather permitting). Cost is $80 per player.
8U Fast Pitch
Girls ages 7 or 8 as of December 31, 2022 will play in a semi-competitive division in the West Shore Minors Fast Pitch League. Alternatively, if there are enough CV teams in the 8U division, teams will play games among other CV Softball 8U teams. Practices will begin on or around April 1st and games will begin in mid-April. Activities (practices and/or games) will typically be scheduled 2-3 times per week. Games will generally be scheduled so that there is 1 home game and 1 away game each week. Away games will require limited travel in the immediate area (reference participating West Shore Minors organizations below). The season will be completed by the last week of the school year. Player Pitching and the Catcher position will be introduced at the 8U level. Coach pitch will still be heavily utilized. Girls will have the opportunity to play all position during games throughout the season. Practices will continue to focus on fundamentals of the game such as hitting, fielding, and base running, as well as proper throwing and catching mechanics. Practices will also begin to concentrate on basic situational defense (such as the concepts of force-outs, when to throw to a base vs. run to a base for an out, etc.). There may also be a mid-season in-house tournament, as well as Opening Day and Closing Day activities (schedule and weather permitting). Cost is $120 per player.
10U Fast Pitch
Girls ages 9 or 10 as of December 31, 2022 will play competitively in the West Shore Minors Fast Pitch League. Practices will begin on or around April 1st and games will begin in mid-April. Activities (practices and/or games) will typically be scheduled 2-3 times per week. Games will not occur on set days. Games will generally be scheduled so that there is 1 home game and 1 away game each week. Away games will require limited travel in the immediate area (reference participating West Shore Minors organizations below). The season will be completed by the last week of the school year. There may also be an All-Star game scheduled at the end of the season. Player pitching is utilized at this level. Girls will begin to be played more frequently at positions where they fit best, but the ability to play different positions (including pitcher) as the opportunity arises throughout the season will remain. Practices will continue to focus on fundamentals of the game such as hitting, fielding, and base running (including stealing and sliding), as well as proper throwing and catching mechanics, however, practices will also begin to focus more heavily on advanced situational defense and offense. Emphasis during games is both player improvement as well as winning. There will be a mid-season weekend tournament with the date and location TBD (weather permitting). Cost is $130 per player.
