COVID-19 Update (April 3, 2020 Communication)

Good Evening Parents & CV Softball Community,

As you are aware, as of Wednesday, April 1, 2020, all 67 counties in Pennsylvania are now under a Stay-at-Home Order through April 30 and schools will remain closed during that time.  We understand the various concerns/questions this may bring about related to our spring softball season, including how we may be able to move forward with a season or how refunds may be issued if our season is cancelled.

It is our sincere hope that we can find a way to get everyone back on the fields for this season.  It certainly will not be a traditional season as there are some obvious challenges to beginning a season on May 1 (at the earliest and IF that even begins to become a realistic possibility). The uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 makes any efforts to make plans relatively ineffective at this time. It is for these reasons that our spring softball season will remain suspended.

In the near future, we will begin planning for various options for parents/players should the season ultimately be cancelled, including how we will handle registration fees paid.  In the meantime, we will continue to follow the lead of the CV School District, local and state authorities, and relevant governing bodies to determine when it may be deemed safe to return to our organization’s normal activities. We remain committed to communicating with you as any new information is available or any decisions are made by our Board regarding the spring softball season (and beyond).  As soon as we are able to determine a clearer path forward with getting our season underway in a modified fashion, or cancelling the spring softball season altogether, I will communicate to everyone directly.

I want to call to attention two additional thoughts:

First, our relatively recent partnership with Little League for some of our programs avails our community to a number of resources you may want to check out to remain active and engaged in softball activities.  Most of these tips and drills can be found through the Little League University website, and more specifically in their Backyard Tips section of the site. Little League will also be showing archived Little League World Series softball games on Facebook.com/LittleLeague.  In addition, ESPN and its family of networks continue to show achieved college softball games during their allotted softball times. These great resources are fun and informational not only for our young athletes, but for our volunteer coaches as well.

Secondly, a number of our Board members and volunteers have worked very hard to bring an increasingly better experience to our players and coaches, and while it is disappointing that the result of their efforts is not able to be seen right now, I want to thank each and every one of you for your efforts. A volunteer-run organization like CV Softball would not be possible without these year-long efforts from our parents and community!

We hope all of our CV Softball families remain safe and healthy during this challenging time. We urge that you remain patient as we work through this ever-evolving situation and thank you again for your continued understanding and support.
