Important: Spring Softball Update (April 21, 2020 Communication)

Good Afternoon,

I want to share with everyone an important update from CV Softball as it relates to our Spring activities, as well as a refund option we are making available at this time.

This week, Governor Wolf and his administration began sharing details on the small steps being taken to reopen certain businesses in PA.  However, schools in PA remain closed through the end of this academic year and the guidance around social gatherings continues to impact group activities and youth sports.  While we remain hopefully that we can provide some opportunity for our girls to get out on the fields in the future to enjoy the game of softball, the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 continues to make any efforts to plan right now nearly impossible.  Because of this uncertainty, CV Softball will continue the temporary suspension of our Spring season.

More importantly, due to the uncertainty surrounding these activities, and the various impacts and concerns that may cause to those in our community, CV Softball agreed at our Board meeting this past weekend that beginning immediately, we will start accepting refund requests for Spring registration fees.  More details on the refund request process are detailed below.

Please note that refunds requests will only be accepted upon written request to our Registrar.  Also, registration will remain closed until it reopens for our Fall season. If a request for a refund of fees is submitted, you will be unable to re-register for any activities until the Fall season.

In addition, if the Spring season is ultimately cancelled, 100% of registration fees paid by ALL registered participants will be refunded at that time. We want to encourage anyone who would still like to play softball this Spring/Summer to continue to be patient as we learn more and determine what softball activities, if any, we may be able to provide to our community. With that being said, it is important that we are clear in stating that no one will lose their registration fees if we ultimately cancel softball activities for the Spring. Anyone who does not choose to request a cancellation of their registration at this time will be provided a 100% refund of your registration fees paid if the season is cancelled or you are unwilling to participate in a modified season.

Please read below for additional details on requesting a cancellation of a Spring registration and a refund of registration fees:

  • If you would like to cancel your Spring season registration and receive a refund of registration fees paid, we will refund 100% of registration fees paid to CV Softball for Spring 2020 registration.
  • In order to receive a refund, a request must be made by the account holder in writing via email to our Registrar at [email protected]. Please include your full name and your child’s/children's’ full name(s). Incomplete requests will not be processed.
  • Please note that any request for a refund will also cancel your Spring registration. By requesting a refund, you are acknowledging that you are cancelling your Spring season registration and that you will not be able to re-register until we reopen registration for our Fall season.
  • For those who do not request a refund at this time, you will still be entitled to receive a 100% refund of Spring registration fees paid if our season is ultimately cancelled. If this occurs, you will be notified and your refund will be processed automatically.
  • Refunds will be processed in the same manner the payment of registration fees were made. If we run into an issue with the original payment, we will contact you before proceeding. Request for refund by means other than the original payment method will not be accepted.
  • While you may begin submitting a refund request immediately, please note that we do not expect to begin to be able to process refunds until later this week. There are additional enhancements our payment provider needs to make on their end to accommodate processing refunds for registration fees paid by credit card. We will inform you if we believe there will be a significant delay beyond that time frame.

The CV Softball Board is planning to convene at more regular intervals to continue to monitor and ultimately determine how we move forward as the environment changes and as more information comes from state and local authorities indicating when it is safe to move forward in a manor that is appropriate for softball activities. Once we determine a clearer path forward (including if that path results in a complete cancellation of activities), we will communicate that in a timely manner directly to the families registered for our Spring season.

If you have any questions about the refund process, please feel free to reach out to our Registrar at [email protected].

I want to again thank you for your patience and hope you and your families remain safe and healthy.
